Highland Taste provides small group food and drink tours in the Scottish Highlands. We are based at Drovers Lodge, Upper Lenie, Drumnadrochit, Inverness, Highlands, IV63 6XF, Scotland.

Protecting your personal data is a priority for us. We comply with all relevant data protection legislation and the following privacy notice is intended to provide transparency about how we handle your personal data.

When you contact us with a reservation request or a general enquiry either through our website, email or telephone, we only ask for information that is essential to deliver our services to you.

2.  What information do we collect from you and what do we use it for?

Reservation Request form

  • Full name

We collect this for the purposes of further communication with you and to ensure that we collect the correct party on the day of the tour.

  • email address

We collect this so that we can contact you regarding your tour arrangements and for generating an invoice for payment for your tour.

We do not send regular communications, e.g. newsletters, so your email address will not be used for this purpose.

Upon completion of your tour we may send you a single email requesting a that you provide an online review. You are under no obligation to provide this review and no further reminders or marketing emails will be sent by us.

  • Tour choice

We collect this so that we can book the appropriate tours with our tour partners in advance. Our tour partners are the distilleries, breweries, restaurants and other venues that we take you to during your tour. Your names will not be used when booking tours with our tour partners and all reservations will be placed in the name of ‘Highland Taste’. We also require your tour choice for calculating the overall cost of your tour for invoicing purposes

  • Group size

We collect this to ensure that your group meets both the minimum and maximum group size requirements, for booking the appropriate tours with our tour partners in advance and for calculating the overall cost of your tour for invoicing purposes.

  • Accommodation name/collection point

We collect this so that we can arrange an appropriate meeting place on the day of the tour.

  • Preferred tour date

We collect this so that we can book the appropriate tours with our tour partners in advance and so that we can collect you on the appropriate date.

  • UK contact number (optional)

We collect this if we are unable to contact you via email and require to get in touch with you regarding your tour, for example, in the event of a no show or in the rare event that we are unable to reach you at the agreed time due to unforeseen circumstance outwith our control. It is optional for you to provide this information.

  • Your country (optional)

We collect this information to allow us better prepare for your tour. For example, guests from outwith Scotland may wish to learn more about Scottish history, geography and culture. It is optional for you to provide this information.

  • Where did you hear about us?

We collect this information so that we can better understand which methods of marketing are successful and which are less so.

Financial information

We do not collect payment for our tours through our website. We therefore do not collect or store any of your financial information.

Records of tour payments (incoming) and tour costs (outgoing) are recorded by Highland Taste for accounting purposes.

3.  What legal basis do we have for processing your personal data?

Upon completion of either the online Reservation Request form or Contact form on our website we ask for your consent to allow us to use the data that you provide so that we may provide our services to you. If you do not check the box consenting to your personal data being used as described then the Reservation Request form or Contact form will not send and your personal data will not be collected, processed or stored.

4.  When do we share personal data?

The only data that we collect from you that we share with our tour partners is your group size and requested tour date. This allows us to make the necessary reservations in advance of your tour. Your names will not be used when booking tours with our tour partners and all reservations will be placed in the name of ‘Highland Taste’.

No other personal information is sold or shared with any third parties for marketing purposes or otherwise.

5.  Where do we store and process personal data and how is it secured?

Your personal data is stored securely in paper form in our office and electronically by our software and web hosting/email providers. Our software and web hosting/email providers have up to date Data Protection & Privacy Policies.

  • Data stored in paper form is secured in a locked office to prevent unauthorised access, use, destruction or disclosure.
  • Password protection is used for all data held electronically to prevent unauthorised access, use, destruction or disclosure.
  • Data is stored in both paper form and electronically to protect us against accidental loss.

6.  How long do we keep your personal data for?

  • Your personal data is stored for a period of 5 years from your most recent tour with us. This is necessary for accounting and tax purposes.
  • After this period the data will be deleted or disposed of securely.

7.  Your rights in relation to personal data

You have the right to access, amend or request erasure or restriction of processing of any information that we have collected from you, e.g. you may withdraw the consent that you gave us at any time.

Such a request will be met unless a request for data to be deleted involves data that is required to be recorded/stored by law, e.g. for tax purposes.

8.  Electronic Data Processing

  • Online Payment

We do not collect payment for our tours through our website. We therefore do not collect, process or store any of your financial information.

Regarding payment for your tour, we provide you with a link to an online PayPal invoice which you are requested to pay in advance of your tour. When you provide payment details to PayPal, they are processed directly by PayPal and are not visible to Highland Taste.   • Website security

Our website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption. This ensures that any transferred data cannot be read or modified by a third party.

The website is also protected by 1&1 SiteLock. This actively protects the content of the website from malware (malicious software), unauthorised access and other threats.

Our website does not use cookies.

  • 1&1 Site Analytics

We record visitors to our website using 1&1 Site Analytics. Our web host assesses which pages you view on our site, how you navigated to our site and some basic information about your computer such as the web browser you are using. This information is anonymous and we are unable to learn the identity of any visitor to our site. We use this information to improve our website and our tour offerings.
