Join us on a tour of the Moray Firth Coast, visiting two distilleries on the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail and a family run, small batch coffee roastery. To complement this tasting experience we will take you to Lossiemouth, the Jewel of the Moray Firth, with its yachting marina and historic harbour, to enjoy a leisurely lunch at a bustling popular seafront restaurant.
Our first stop is at the Benromach Distillery, famous for producing whisky by hand, the time-honoured way. Benromach’s 3 distillers work to produce a beautifully balanced whisky with a light touch of smoke, orchestrating every step of the production process by sight, sound and touch. A friendly tour guide will show you around the distillery from the mash tun and copper stills through to the dunnage warehouses. Back at the visitor centre you can enjoy a dram of the award-winning Benromach 10 Years Old and savour that pre-1960s Speyside character.
Taking in fine views over the sea, we travel along the coastal road to reach the town of Lossiemouth, the Jewel of the Moray Firth. We head to a bustling restaurant which sits in a fantastic location overlooking the marina. You can enjoy a leisurely lunch from their varied menu which includes plenty of seafood options. Before moving on there will be the opportunity to walk around the picturesque, historic harbour and attractive sandy beach.
Our next port of call is the Beankind roastery where you can watch a demonstration of the coffee roasting process while being treated to a flavoursome coffee from their wide range. The owners of Beankind roast their coffee in small batches to ensure that they can extract the best possible flavours and aromas. To allow you to enjoy Beankind’s superior coffee at home, you will receive a 150g pouch of freshly roasted coffee to take away.
After lunch we make our way to the small, friendly and informal distillery of Glen Moray which is situated in the city of Elgin, the historic capital of Speyside. Glen Moray whisky has been distilled on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897 by a small dedicated team of craftsmen who have created a delicate, well-balanced malt. You will be provided with an informative tour of the distillery and on returning to their comfortable visitor centre you can enjoy a dram from their Classic Collection. For a more in-depth experience, why not upgrade your tour to include a tasting of 4 drams from either their Heritage Range or from Glen Moray’s limited editions and distillery exclusive bottlings? Please enquire about availability and cost of this upgrade at the time of booking.
Love Craft Beer?
If you enjoy craft beer then why not enquire about an alternative itinerary which includes a visit to Speyside Craft Brewery? Here, the talented team proudly produce an appealing variety of craft beers using the same water that helps to produce some of Scotland’s most famous whiskies. You will be shown around the facility and will have the opportunity to learn about the ingredients used, the process and the resulting flavours. The tour will conclude with a tasting session with one of the brewing team during which you can decide on your favourite and perhaps purchase a bottle or two to take home.
