Highland Taste is a tour company based near Loch Ness in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and is owned and operated by Angela & James McLaren. Angela was raised on a farm in Galloway and is proud of her farming heritage. She understands and appreciates the skills and dedication required to provide quality produce. Angela went on to gain a degree in business management and loves discovering new places to enjoy the delights of the Scottish natural larder. As a former engineer, James has a keen interest in both the distilling and brewing processes and has a wide knowledge of the locally produced whisky, gin and craft beers available.
The McLarens are both experienced travellers having lived in Oregon, USA, Germany and Ireland as well as making numerous mountaineering expeditions to the Himalayas and the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes. Further travels to both east and west coast USA, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, Alaska, Hawaii, Seychelles and Europe has allowed your guides to develop an understanding of what is important to independent travellers; being able to connect with the people and their country on a personal level and develop an understanding of their culture and heritage. Their experiences have highlighted that gaining knowledge of a region’s food and drink helps one make this connection.
